Guidelines for Transfer Scholarship Letters of Recommendation

Applicants may wish to give a copy of these guidelines to their recommender(s).

Letters of recommendation for academic scholarships are most helpful if they address some or all of the following points:

1. The student's mastery of subjects of interest, with examples of outstanding class contributions or performance.
2. The student's future academic plans.
3. The student's academic record, including breadth, depth, and quality of coursework.
4. The student's relative standing among recent students or graduates, and ageneral assessment of intellectual ability and performance.
